About Us
What We Do
One Foot In The Clouds is a charitable trust incorporated under the Charitable Trusts Act. We run aviation-based programmes for schools and community groups, giving students the chance to build real aircraft and develop practical skills.
Students start by designing, building, and flying radio control aircraft. From there they move on to bigger projects: full-size kitset aircraft, residential maintenance camps with licensed engineers, and multi-school competitions.
Sessions run after school and on weekends. We work with schools across Auckland and connect students with people working in the aviation industry.
How We Operate
- ✦
Volunteer-led
Sessions are run by volunteers with backgrounds in aviation, engineering, and education. They give their time on weekends and after school to make it happen.
- ✦
School partnerships
We work in school workshops, fit around school timetables, and coordinate with teachers. Rosmini College, Albany Senior High, Avondale College, Carmel College, St Peter's College, and Rutherford College have all run programmes with us.
- ✦
Industry connections
We connect students with people working in aviation. Air New Zealand engineers have visited our sessions, and students work alongside licensed aircraft maintenance engineers at our residential camps.
- ✦
University involvement
It's not just high school students. We work with university clubs from UOA and AUT, and our maintenance camps bring secondary and tertiary students together on the same aircraft.
- ✦
Registered charitable trust
We're incorporated under the Charitable Trusts Act and governed by a volunteer committee. We rely on donations, sponsorship, and community support to keep our programmes running.
Schools & Groups We Work With
We work alongside these schools, clubs, and organisations to deliver our programmes.
